Head Size Images for Yearbook or Admin File Image Exports

Head sizing is required before exporting your yearbook or admin files. This also allows you to correct inconsistencies in the head sizes, which is required by yearbook companies.

Before you can head size your images, a default image or yearbook pose must be selected for each person photographed if more than one image was taken and IDd to subject's name.

Default vs. Yearbook Pose

(only applicable when subjects have more than one image)

Default images are assigned by you in CORE.  Yearbook poses are selected by importing the "Yearbook Spots" via a spreadsheet, online by your customer on the retail website or on the pictureadmin.com site by your client.

If the subjects you have photographed have more than one image assigned to their name and you do not plan to allow your customer to select their yearbook pose on the retail website or have your client select/approve poses on the pictureadmin.com site you will need to mark a default image for each person photographed that has more than one image IDd to their name.

Bulk Assigning Default Poses

You can bulk assign the first or last image IDd to a name as the default by going to the event in CORE, then select Yearbook/Image Exports on the left menu.

  • Click the "Review auto assign default image options".  This option will only show if you have names with no default or yearbook pose assigned, if you don't see this button and you want to review or edit assigned poses, skip down to selecting defaults via ID images.

  • You will now have the option to select
    • "Use last set assigned to name (sorted alphanumerically by folder-frame)
    • "Use first set assigned to name (sorted alphanumerically by folder-frame)
      • Note:  this will only affect names with no defaults assigned
      • You can select "Preview" before committing or select "Auto Assign default sets"

Selecting Defaults via ID Images Page

Go to your event in CORE, then on the left menu go to Images > ID Images

  • Checkout all sets
  • Assign a default pose for each person by checking the default option next to the image on the ID images page.
    • Note: if you have aligned images and have more than one image per set it will use the last image unless you have selected which alignment category to use.   If you have more than one set, go to alignment categories and click edit next to the category view name and check "Use this view for the yearbook export and head sizing".
    • Then go back to ID images to select the default image

Head Sizing Images

While in your event in CORE, click on Yearbook/Image Exports on the left menu.

  • You need to confirm that all names with images have a default/pose selected
    • If there are names without poses, you can click on the view button, then on the image button to select a pose
      • Repeat for all names with no pose selected or if there are many, review the options for selecting a pose at the top of this article
  • Once all names have a pose assigned, click the "HeadSize Images"  button.

Note:  If the head size button is disabled, you are missing defaults.  You'll need to assign defaults to all names before proceeding

  • Select "Headsize all images" if you are going in for the first time.  Select "Headsize not headsized images" if you just want to view and headsize images that have not been sized yet.

Crop & Guide Settings

The default crop guide settings work for the majority of yearbook/admin exports, but if you have specs that differ from the default the settings can be changed to accommodate your need.

You can adjust the settings in your headsizing tool to match your yearbook/publication requirements by:

  • (1) Clicking on The Crop & Guide Settings button
  • (2) Changing the settings to match your specs.  The most common changes are to the Aspect Ratio, the Position to top/bottom and relative width to height.

Adjusting Images

  • To adjust an image, click on it, then roll the wheel on your mouse to zoom in/out, then hold your left mouse button down to move the image around.
  • If heads are already a consistent size, you can use the "Apply Cropping to Remaining" button to make the same adjustments to the remaining images.
    • Note: When the photographers are consistent with the headsizing in the camera, this will dramatically speed up the head size process in CORE.  We recommend installing mask in your cameras to assist photographers in sizing the heads while taking photos.  PhotoMatch also shows the head size guide when the image is displayed.
  • When you have your images sized appropriately, click Save Changes.

You can now export your admin/yearbook files.   Click here to learn how to export yearbook files.
